Jim Carrey celebrated his 62nd birthday in style, with the guestlist of his party leaving the internet flabbergasted. The actor was marking his birthday with friends in West Hollywood with a group of friends and colleagues in comedy.
Among those attending the gathering were David Spade and Adam Sandler. One look at a picture from the party shows some serious comedy royalty in attendance. Just take a look for yourself and see who you can spot.
Spade, 59, took to social media to post about the gathering, which was christened ‘The Laugh Supper’ by fellow attendee Jeffrey Ross.
Spade wrote: “Happy birthday to Jim Carrey who has made me laugh on and off the field so many times. Such a cool dude. I rarely bust out the cake emoji but i will today.”
Meanwhile for his part Ross wrote: “The Laugh Supper ! Happy birthday Jim Carrey! We love you!”
One of the pictures certainly played to the ‘Laugh Supper’ theme.
All of the guests gathered behind one side of the dinner table, with Carrey striking a silly pose in the middle and dinner laid out. It all looked more than a little like Leonardo Da Vinci’s fresco of the Last Supper. In fairness, after Bruce Almighty this isn’t Carrey’s first rodeo as the divine.
One person in the comments ran with the joke, replying: “Telling my kids this was Jesus Christ and his apostles.” People were left flabbergasted by the party, with one person wondering how the party must have been.
They posted: “Wow! To have been a fly on that wall…”
Another wrote: “Damn – so many legends at one table.”
A third continued with the theme, replying: “Oh my god this is so epic I can’t even take it. This is like the last supper of comedians.”
Carrey has also touched on the subject of stepping away from his acting career, even broaching the subject of retirement.
In an interview with Access Hollywood in March 2022, Carrey said: “Well, I’m retiring – yeah, probably – I’m being fairly serious.
“It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”
In a moment of self-reflection, Carrey added that he felt content with his creative output.
The Truman Show star said: “I feel like – and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
