Britney Spears has responded to rumors about her working on a new album with Charli XCX and shut down speculations about her musical comeback with a blunt statement on social media.
The 42-year-old Grammy winner took to her Instagram on Wednesday to reveal the truth about the rumored upcoming album she is allegedly working on.
“Most of the news is fake. They’re constantly saying that I’m reaching out to random people to make a new album… I will never return to the music industry,” she stated.
The star also hinted at a change in profession:
“When I write, it’s for fun or for other people!!! For those of you who read my book, there’s a lot you don’t know about me. Over the past two years, I’ve written over 20 songs for other people!!! I am a ghostwriter, and honestly, I like it!!!”
Thus, the artist refuted rumors of her secretly collaborating with Charli XCX for a future album. They were supposedly working together on a song to be released alongside Britney’s new album.
