Robert De Niro expressed satisfaction with the fact that former US President Donald Trump was found guilty of all 34 charges in the case of financing porn star Stormy Daniels.
When Page Six caught up with the actor in New York City Thursday night at the Cinema Society screening of his new film “Ezra,” he was asked how excited he was about the news.
“I’m generally tired. I don’t want to get excited about anything,” he said and added: “It’s as it should be. Justice was done. This is all”.
Asked if he thought Trump could win the November 2024 presidential election, the 80-year-old De Niro replied: “For me, it’s not over until it’s over.”
The longtime Trump critic went on to describe the passion of Trump supporters as “madness.”
And as for getting more involved in the campaign for President Joe Biden, whom he met outside a Manhattan courthouse earlier this week, De Niro commented: “I’m planning it. We will see at this point. ”
In a conversation with Variety at the same screening of “Ezra”, the legendary actor accused Trump of wanting to destroy the United States.
On May 31, Trump, 77, became the first former US president to be convicted of criminal charges. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee in the upcoming election was found guilty of all charges by a 12-member Manhattan jury in the unprecedented trial.
