Long drives can be exhausting. That’s why it’s important to take a few breaks from time to time to do some stretching. It’s also necessary to make stops to grab some food because it’s never a great idea to go hungry during trips. Then there are the occasional stopovers to use the restroom because holding it in and waiting until you get to the destination won’t do anyone any good – especially to your bladder or stomach. Regardless of whether you’re planning on taking a break or not during a trip, it’s important to bear in mind your companions and make sure literally no one gets left behind.
Everyone should feel happy on Christmas Day because, as the song goes, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year.” So, imagine getting left behind and having your relationship tested on Christmas and right before the beginning of the year. Having been married for 27 years and blessed with a 26-year-old son, it’s no wonder why this couple didn’t break up, but what happened to them will definitely test anyone’s relationship – regardless of how long a couple has been together.
In December 2022, the Daily News reported that a 55-year-old Thai man named Boontom Chaimoon and his wife 49-year-old wife Amnuay Chaimoon went on a road trip, leaving their house at around 3 a.m. to make sure they arrived in their hometown in the province of Maha Sarakham just in time for the New Year.
Since they left early in the morning, Boontom had to urinate and decided to make a stop along the way. According to Daily News, Boontom decided to park their car on the side of the road instead of going to the nearest gas station. Amnuay decided to go to the bathroom, too.
Unfortunately, Boontom didn’t notice that Amnuay had left the car. So, when she returned, he was no longer there. He drove off without her, leaving his wife alone in the middle of nowhere. Imagine what she might have felt that night.
Since she didn’t have any phone or money with her, Amnuay didn’t have a choice but to walk – and it took her more than 12 miles before she could finally arrive at her destination. To make things worse, Amnuay didn’t have her husband’s phone number, so there was no way she could try to contact him. So when she finally arrived at the district of Kabin Buri at around 5 a.m., she reported the incident to a police station, but there was no way they could help them.
They also tried to contact her own phone – which she left inside her bag that was also left in the car – around 20 times. Sadly, her husband didn’t pick up her phone. The police then decided to contact her relatives instead. At that point, Amnuay already felt desperate and thought she would have to sell her gold necklace for her to get to her exact destination.
The Thailand Times, in a report, said the authorities were still able to contact her husband at around 8 a.m. Unfortunately, he was already in Korat Province by then or approximately 100 miles away from his wife. But when he was told about what happened, he decided to make a turn and pick up his wife.
All along, Boontom thought his wife was just sleeping in the backseat. So, he apologized to his wife for what happened. Thankfully, Amnuay didn’t have any hard feelings for her husband and simply went on with their trip.
