Nevada judge attacked by defendant during sentencing in Vegas Court
In a violent incident at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, a defendant, Deobra Delone Redden, attacked Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus during a felony battery case. 👩⚖️😳
The defendant leaped over a defense table and the judge’s bench, landing on top of her, sparking a brawl involving court officials and attorneys.
The judge fell back against a wall, sustaining injuries but not requiring hospitalization. A courtroom marshal who came to the judge’s aid was injured and hospitalized for a bleeding gash on his forehead and a dislocated shoulder.
Redden was arrested and faces multiple new felony charges, including battery on a protected person. The attack occurred during a hearing where Redden, not in custody, was seeking leniency in a case related to a previous arrest for attacking someone with a baseball bat.
