Reya is still very young, and her distinctive appearance has made her popular worldwide. The owner of the dog claims that she lost her ear after birth; the mother dog attempted to break the amniotic sac and accidentally bit off the ear. Reya was taken to a veterinary clinic for examination and to treat the injury. As a newborn, stitches were applied from the crown down the left side of her face.
The previous owner decided to get rid of her and left her at the hospital. However, a sympathetic administrator took pity on the little one and brought her home when she was only a few days old. Reya was in critical condition, but with great effort, she managed to pull through. A month and a half later, all wounds had healed, and Reya grew into a perfectly healthy and happy dog, except her one ear began to shift upwards and is now situated on the top of her head.
Since the defect is not caused by a congenital pathology, and the dog can hear and respond to voice commands, the ear was not removed. This unique feature made her popular, earning her the nickname “Unicorn,” and she gained a massive number of followers on social media.
