Brooklyn Nine-Nine Mourns the Loss of Beloved Co-Star Andre Braugher: A Tribute to Captain Holt
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast is feeling really sad because their co-star Andre Braugher passed away on Monday. Andre, who played Capt. Raymond Holt in the funny police show for eight years, died at 61 after being sick.
Marc Evan Jackson, who played Andre’s onscreen husband Kevin, posted a nice picture of them from the set on Twitter. He said, “O Captain. My Captain,” and called Andre a giant, a genius, an artist, a legend, and a force.
Chelsea Peretti, who played Gina Linetti, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, saying she’ll miss Andre’s voice and expressing how lucky she was to work with him.
Terry Crews, who played Terry Jeffords, couldn’t believe Andre was gone so soon. He thanked Andre for teaching him a lot and said he was grateful for knowing him.
Joe Lo Truglio, who played Charles Boyle, remembered Andre as a great actor and a family man. He shared a touching story about Andre singing during lunch breaks and expressed gratitude to Andre’s family for sharing him with the cast.
Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller, who played Hitchcock and Scully, also shared their sadness and love for Andre on Instagram.
Melissa Fumero, who played Amy Santiago, posted a picture of Andre’s character’s empty desk on set.
Niecy Nash-Betts, who worked with Andre on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, remembered him fondly on Instagram, saying they had fun on set when she played his sister.
The official Peacock and Brooklyn Nine-Nine Instagram accounts shared a post saying, “Always our Captain. We love you, Andre.”
Besides Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andre was known for his role in Homicide: Life on the Street, where he won an Emmy in 1998. He earned a second Emmy in 2006 for the miniseries Thief.
